Day 137: What are Natural Disasters Teaching us?

I forgive myself that I have not accepted and allowed myself to realize that when a hurricane hits the united states and destroys homes, tears children from their mother's arms, kills people with flying debris, and creates opportunities for looting - we call it a disaster -- while in countries where war rages for control of resources, and corrupt governments mismanage their countries in the name of greed leading to poverty and severe violence motivated by survival - these events are a daily occurrence that somehow is not seen as a disaster

I forgive myself that I have not accepted and allowed myself to realize how strange it is that while the speed with which the president acts in responding to natural disasters is a factor that will influence the decision people make about which presidential candidate to vote for, the fact of the president's, and all other world leader's acceptance of an economic system that goes to war for control of resources in the name of profit, and requires poverty to exist so that the poor people can work in the factories to produce iphones and clothes for westerners with money, and allows millions to starve to death each year is not questioned or even noticed in any way whatsoever

I forgive myself that I have not accepted and allowed myself to realize that even after people's lives are ruined by a natural disaster, no one seems seems to place themselves in the shoes of those whose lives are ruined daily by not having access to money, and question the existence of suffering

I forgive myself that I have not accepted and allowed myself to realize that people who promote the idea that 'everything happens for a reason', only focus on the positive stuff that happens, to apparently validate / confirm their belief that the universe is governed by some cosmic source of love that wants to shower us with abundance and happiness, and never face the question that maybe natural disasters manifest as a wake up call giving people a taste of the suffering endured daily by billions of people around the world - that maybe natural disasters are an experience that could be taken as motivation to make sure everyone in the world is provided for with what they need for a dignified life and no one has to be subject to a system where their lives can be taken away in an instant by the disasters of war, poverty, and starvation

I forgive myself that I have not accepted and allowed myself to realize that we've defined 'disasters' primarily as 'natural disasters', and for some reason do not want to face the un-natural disasters we create ourselves through a dysfunctional world system

I commit myself to show that the world is a daily, constant disaster zone in which the self interest of human beings is lived out as all imaginable forms of abuse

I commit myself to show that humanity is the disaster on Earth, not nature

I commit myself to ask myself if a hurricane, or a war was brought to my doorstep and destroyed my life -- would I consider those who've been suffering the same way as me, for their whole life around the world for hundreds of years without any solution in sight?

I commit myself to learn from the wake up call that natural disasters provide, in showing us how horrific it actually is for your life to be disrupted and destroyed and to not have a choice in the matter - and to stand up for those who endure the daily, round the clock disaster of poverty, starvation, and war and not stop exposing the suffering and abuse that exists in this world until the last happy consumer is shaken out of their hypnosis induced by entertainment and self interest, and is brought to an awareness of Reality sufficient to motivate actual compassion for other beings

I commit myself to support the establishment of an Equal system around the world based on basic principles of decency and care such as making sure everyone has food, water, homes, electricity, sanitation, medical care provided for Free without being forced to find some way to earn it - so we can end the un-natural disaster and devastation of suffering caused by a profit / self interest / exploitation driven system

I am one vote for an Equal Money System established in this lifetime to end the disaster of a profit driven system. www.equalmoney.org
